Natural sounds & gentle electronica, with a sympathetic minimalist piano over the top.I'd even describe "I can see for miles" as minimalistly jagged in places (if such a thing can be). It's 3 separate tracks, but plays best as a 20 minute piece. Sat outside in the early morning with a cup of tea it's a relaxing peaceful start to the day.

Ian Yates Another fabulous sonic space to be in... the walls and social distances disappear, the azure dome arcs overhead into infinity... you feel yourself rise like a gull on bright spring thermals up into the blue, arcing and wheeling with a serene freedom :)

about

Lighting Beacons is my response to the strange times we all find ourselves in at the present. Lock-down and self-isolation have so quickly become the new normal and yet, within this slightly surreal time, a quiet calm has come about. The weather is beautiful and spring is coming. People are walking and we have time to ‘stand and stare’.

I have become interested in how people are communicating during this time, using new means now that we are all 'distancing' - of sending messages out into the world. And so, the concept of ‘Lighting Beacons’ came about.

I have recently been experimenting musically with some interesting processes and it seemed to me that they formed cohesive pieces that in a way, belonged to this particular time and social construct that we find ourselves in. Three calm and dreamlike, yet at times slightly dissonant pieces that seem to float in the air, or be signalled from beacons as messages, passed between people.

about

Andrew Heath Stroud, UK

Ambient, piano based, lower-case music. Quiet and intimate - it explores sounds from both acoustic and electronic sources, along with processed field recordings and gathered, ‘found’ sounds. This music is not static though. It drifts. It constantly shifts and creates new maps that are full of change but listen carefully and you’ll also hear quiet, random glitches or shimmering dissonances. ... more
