smokyfrog A new discovery for me but an absolute treat. It's warm, immersive, vibey and almost subliminal at times. Quite simply, a wonderful place to be.

Scott I knew this was something special just seconds into the first song, and that first night with it I couldn't get past track 4 because I liked it so much. The next day, I was ever more impressed, especially with "A Break in the Clouds." It's so nice when bonus tracks aren't just throwaways...I love this album! Beautiful print, too. Thank you. Favorite track: A Break in the Clouds.

Berkdrums A monumental album! Almost too beautiful to describe accurately when it comes to the details of the sounds we experience... the first half I listened on in-ears while driving during a hazy, misty autumn-day, the second half while driving the next day: a clear autumn-day with big white clouds drifting by, a sunbeam, some raindrops and the leaves in all autumn-colours... the emotional experience while listening is almost uplifting, it soothes the soul immensely.... this is a múst-have!!!

about

Soundings continues Andrew Heath's exploration and manipulation of found sounds and field recordings to create textures and pointillist staccato notes of sound which are then set against quiet piano phrases and shimmering electronic treatments.

The album explores his growing fascination with the quiet sounds of people within interior spaces – footsteps, talking, even whispering - the sound of voices that are often rendered so faint and that are buried so deep that they become unintelligible, simply leaving a trace of speech.

Another new element in his recent work is the addition of other musicians. His on-going collaboration with the Dutch ambient musician, Anne Chris Bakker is represented here on ‘Winter on Noorderhaven’ and ‘Happenstance’, to which Chris adds beautiful guitar and other ephemeral sounds. Stéphane Marlot plays an elegant cello addition on ‘Days In-between’ and Bill Howgego a stunning clarinet on ‘A Break in the Clouds’.

about

Andrew Heath Stroud, UK

Ambient, piano based, lower-case music. Quiet and intimate - it explores sounds from both acoustic and electronic sources, along with processed field recordings and gathered, ‘found’ sounds. This music is not static though. It drifts. It constantly shifts and creates new maps that are full of change but listen carefully and you’ll also hear quiet, random glitches or shimmering dissonances. ... more
