Richard Gürtler "The Silent Cartographer" album is filled with euphoniously rewarding delicateness, masterfully polished with filigreeing attention to every single detail. It's a very strong debut work, I won't even hesitate to use the word triumphant, because this, nearly 55 minutes long recording showcases exceptionally creative potential and distinguishably sensitive artistry of its sole protagonist. Once more, bravo, Andrew!!!

The latest in a series of sublime recordings, The Silent Cartographer is Andrew Heath’s Disco Gecko debut.

The album features quiet, intimate music that explores sounds from both acoustic (piano) and electronic (synthesizers) sources, along with field recordings and found sounds.

This is immersive, ambient music. However, it is not music that stays in one place: it drifts and constantly shifts as it charts new topographies, creating and following maps that are full of change.

If you listen carefully you’ll often hear quiet, random glitches or shimmering dissonances which fall by happy accident in exactly the right place.

Andrew Heath Stroud, UK

Ambient, piano based, lower-case music. Quiet and intimate - it explores sounds from both acoustic and electronic sources, along with processed field recordings and gathered, ‘found’ sounds. This music is not static though. It drifts. It constantly shifts and creates new maps that are full of change but listen carefully and you’ll also hear quiet, random glitches or shimmering dissonances. ... more
