North by North East is a dense, slowly shifting tone collage. Drawing inspiration from the seasons and topology of their native landscapes of England and Japan, Andrew Heath and Seigo Aoyama present an album which displays their unique styles in the use of piano, electronics, field recordings and found sounds.

There is such purpose and elegance here, immersing the listener in a visual world of ice, cold seas and empty houses. A drifting sonic homage to the time of winter. Hesitant and subtle piano melodies, perfectly choreographed, balance with glistening electronics and treatments as the album reveals the stark beauty of this time of year and leaving perhaps the closing track to announce a thaw and the possible arrival of spring.
